Common questions

How do I pair a Mac?
Install the macOS agent, open it from the menu bar, and enter the pairing code shown there into the web dashboard. Step-by-step instructions are in the pairing guide.
How does keep-awake and lid-closed behavior work?
Keep-awake prevents your Mac from sleeping while a long job runs — it never disables your lock screen or password. Lid-closed keep-awake (on macOS 13 Ventura and later) keeps work running with the lid shut, and your normal security applies the moment the session ends or you send a lock. The Mac sleeps again as soon as keep-awake is turned off.
How do the free trial and Pro subscription work?
CommandLatch Pro is a paid subscription that begins with a 7-day free trial — no card required to start. One subscription covers every Mac on your account. You can manage or cancel anytime from the billing portal in the web dashboard. See the billing guide for details.
Is there an Apple Watch app and a Home Screen widget?
Yes. The CommandLatch app includes an Apple Watch app with a watch-face complication and an iPhone Home Screen widget, so you can see a Mac's status and fire safe actions from your wrist or Home Screen. See the Apple Watch guide.
How do I delete my account?
You can permanently delete your account and all associated data from within the CommandLatch app (Settings → Delete account). If you'd rather not, email support [at] commandlatch [dot] app and we'll delete your account and data on request.
What can CommandLatch see or do on my Mac?
Only a fixed, allow-listed set of safe actions — lock, sleep, keep-awake, volume, and the like. There is no remote shell: CommandLatch can't run arbitrary commands, read your files, or see your screen. Your devices and activity are scoped to your account. Read the Privacy Policy for what we store.
